Our solutions
Our solutions contribute towards diverse, resilient landscapes and act as drivers of inclusive economic development
Growing domestic and international demand for wood products and agro-commodities is putting pressure on forest and tree resources. Sustainable land use is needed to maintain long-term environmental integrity (including the conservation of water and nutrient cycles, and biodiversity), support climate change mitigation and adaptation, and benefit local people.
TBI's emphasizes the role of community forestry, smallholder agroforestry, forest and landscape restoration, and of sustainability standards and commitments in achieving sustainable land use. In its programmes, TBI pilots and scales sustainable and nature-based land-use and management practices. TBI stresses the active involvement of local smallholders and communities, leading to tangible livelihood benefits, by providing new economic opportunities, and by increasing local people's resilience.
