Food Security, Water and Tropical Forests - Are we on the right track?

On June 22, 2011 Tropenbos International together with Utrecht University, Wageningen University, Dutch Association of Tropical Forests (VTB), Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs organised the seminar Food Security, Water and Tropical Forests – Are we on the Right Track?

This seminar aimed at increasing our understanding on the needs, possibilities and pathways to enhance cross-sectoral coordination and integration of forests with other agendas. It focused specifically on the links of food and water security and forests. The sustainable provision sufficient food and water of good quality is an imminent global priority anticipating that in 2050 around 9 billion people have to be feed and life safely. Experts from the food security and water sectors shared the issues at stake, the strategies to address them and how forests and forestry could most effectively contribute in realizing the development priorities in these sectors.
